Our tour will kick off with a walking city tour of Berlin. Learn important facts about Germany’s capital and discover the history of the city with a certified, multilingual city tour guide. See the most popular points of interest in the heart of Berlin. Learn about the exciting history and development of Berlin from the residence city of the Kingdom of Prussia to the capital of a reunited Germany. We will meet our city tour guide outside the Nikolaikirche Museum (St. Nicholas' Church Museum) and begin our exploration of the city. See Berlin´s highest building, the Television Tower. Walk along the Spree to the beautiful Museum Island, where you can see the Berlin Cathedral, the Old Museum, and the Humboldt Forum. There, admire the reconstructed Berlin City Palace. Across the Palace Bridge (Schlossbrücke), explore the historical center of Berlin and see impressive buildings from the times of kings and emperors.
After a morning of exploring the city, guests will return to the host hotel, then head out for the second half of our opening day doubleheader: a visit to the fabulous Classic Remise Berlin. This collection of classic machines is housed in a setting unlike any other in the old car world. An old tram depot built at the turn of the 20th century has been transformed into a huge old car clubhouse and showroom where car owners display their machines for others to see, and to gather and share their passion for all things automotive. The Classic Remise is not a museum — it’s better!
Day 3, Saturday, August 31: GERMAN MUSEUM OF TECHNOLOGY, FREE TIME IN BERLIN
The highlight of our day will be a visit to the amazing German Museum of Technology. Founded in 1982, it is one of the most visited museums in the capital and is considered one of the leading technology museums in the world. The “raisin bomber” on the facade of the new building has become an internationally known landmark.
Located on the historic site of the Gleisdreieck transport hub and the Anhalter freight station, it invites you to take an eventful and enjoyable journey through the cultural history of technology. Covering 26,500 square meters, it offers fascinating exhibitions on aviation, shipping, rail transport, automobiles, film technology, computer history, chemistry and pharmacy and much more.
Automobiles have been part of the collection since the beginning. The backbone of the collection belonged to a local collector, who sold it to Daimler-Benz, who in turn donated it to the city. Over the course of 35 years, the exhibition of cars changed concepts and places many times. The current exhibitions look at the history of cars from various angles, like their function (racing, goods transportation, people's car, etc.) or technical attributes (origin of its engine, body style, etc.). The exhibition shows cars made in Germany, Sweden, France and so on.
After departing the museum, guests will enjoy free time to explore some of the culture, sights, and sounds of Berlin on their own.
Day 4, Sunday, September 1: THE MAYBACH MUSEUM
The main attraction on Day 4 is the Museum of Historical Maybach Vehicles in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria. Maybach vehicles from the 1920s and ‘30s are among the most coveted and revered in the world, and the Maybach Museum is the only shrine in the world dedicated exclusively to telling the Maybach story. Only a small number of Maybach vehicles still exist, and the Maybach Museum has 16 of them on hand, displayed in a historic building that has been turned into a stunning modern classic car palace. We’ll spend the morning exploring these unique exhibits that tell the story of the Maybach engine construction, its vehicles, engines, and transmissions. Historic engines, transmissions and axles as well as interesting displays, models, and short films round off the exhibition.
On the second half of our day, we will travel by coach bus to Stuttgart with lunch on the way and dinner at our second host hotel in Stuttgart. And it’s not just any hotel — guests will be in for a rare automotive treat with four days and nights at the V8 Hotel Motorworld Region Stuttgart.
